BECAUSE I AM SLEEPING DURING THAT TIME. grumble grumble Anyway, off to work early, there's some computers I need to pull out of a lab and run some hardware tests on, they are getting odd thermal errors from the video card's bios, odly enough the cards don't feel like they are running hot, these are the only computers running on Nvidia cards instead of ATI(Thanks to people not listening and just ordering whatever they wanted) so I don't have any spare replcement fans etc, I might just need to remove the heatsinks and re-apply some thermal paste to them. Also, apparently I left some notes on some doors that said "LAB CLOSED FOR THE WEENED OF JUNE 6-7" and someone came in this morning, freaked out, canceled his class and bitched to one of my co-ordinators.. who then laughed at him (because the guy brought a sign with him to show them). My co-ordinator was quick to point out that it is June 9th and that it was also no longer a weekend. Amusement: I am currently covering for a person who is away (heart attack) in his absence I look after 7 labs in addition to my normal duties, thursday another employee goes away, I am the one who covers for him as well (5 more labs) oops... not going to be there. It does more though, it runs any command with the current user permissions, move, copy etc can all be performed without consent and without you even knowing it happened. Anyone ever seen what happens when you move boot files around? :P YES there are lots of viruses that can do similar things to this in windows based machines, many of these vulnerabilities get patched, some can still be resident on un-patched machines, the difference is there's virus scanners to stop this from happening, , vista even has some level of execution prevention(XP sp3 does to to a degree). Raise your hand if you have a MAC virus scanner. Anyway: The part that worries me is that rather then having to install an active X control to access commands on the computer itself, this command is run without any user interaction. I guess that counts as a meal.        Thoughts 3 - New thought?   The Iron Curtain has been lifted?    10:04am 18/05/2009   Well, as most of you may know by now, the past few months Cola(hawk) Frost and myself have been working on the feasibility of making a convention here in London. Seeing as everyone else made a post and I wasn't paying attention and didn't make one, here's one from me. AND IT'S BIGGER. The main reason for the con is the fact that there simply aren't many Furry cons in Canada. A drawing attraction is that it's only 1 hour inside of Canada.. so those who have some phobia of coming into Canadia don't have to go far ;) Other attractions are food; we're offering a catered buffet lunch to all attendies, cheapness of stay; consider how much you pay for a room at MFF, FC or AC now drop it by about 50$ and convert that to Canadian(monopoly) dollars, it will be cheaper than mexican dentistry work. The name of the Con will simply be "condition" and a colour will be added to the end based on the theme, so the first year it will be "Condition Red". Hawk, Frost and I have founded and registered a parent corporation to which the Con will be hosted by. We more or less decided that there will be 3 Con chairs as opposed to just one, with one person "taking the reins" each year, frost being the un-lucky one the first year, mainly so that if everything goes wrong we can blame him and then he, in turn, can blame it on cancer and make everyone feel bad. There will be a call out for conscripts.. er, staff, but that is at a later date. August 2011 is the date we have, hopefully everyone can make it(Think of it as an excuse to come visit us Kamber and Rozberg).
